The bay at the mouth of Cot Valley is always spectacular, but when the wind is strong and the waves ruffle the edges of the land it's really special.
I painted this last week, some while I was there and finished at home because it was really freezing !

Is my title pretentious twaddle or poetic license? It doesn't really matter, the words just appear out of the blue to describe the experience of the painting once it is finished. The following quotes all resonate with me. I'm not saying I achieve this, but it's how I approach my art work. Matter of fact and spiritual all at the same time.
When I'm painting, I'm not aware of what I'm doing. It's only after a get acquainted period that I see what I've been about. I've no fears about making changes for the painting has a life of its own.

All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.
The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the
place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a
passing shape, from a spider's web.
I don't know whether I believe in God or not. I think, really, I'm
some sort of Buddhist. But the essential thing is to put oneself in a
frame of mind which is close to that of prayer.
